Nu är han tillbaka – en ledande forskare, debattör och även aktiv konstnär och serieskapare i mötet mellan konst och AI-produktion. En ofta kontroversiell röst, vilket framgått till exempel i svenske forskaren Robert Amans intervjuer med honom i Det grymma svärdet nr 44 eller på The Comics Journal [LÄNK: https://www.tcj.com/comics-people-generally-hate-what-i…/] Han är också aktuell i Sverige med sin nyligen utgivna experimentella seriebok Tjärornas krig från Lystring förlag.\nNu är Manouach i Sverige som deltagare i den internationella konferensen Comics & Machines (COMMA 2026) [LÄNK: https://comma2026.echochamber.be/] på Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan och Uppsala Universitet den 22–23 april, ett akademiskt möte som undersöker de tecknade seriernas snabbt föränderliga landskap. Det handlar om seriekonst, datorer och maskinintelligens — och ett kritiskt omprövande av seriekonsten som aktiv snarare än passiv mottagare av teknologisk utveckling.\nDetta samtal på Serieteket/Kulturbiblioteket utgör en ”förstart” på konferensen där du får ta del av Ilan Manouachs teoribygge och kanske även får möta några andra av de internationella forskarna på konferensen.\nPresentationen sker på engelska.\nI samarbete med Echo Chamber, Tekniska högskolan och Uppsala universitet.\n\nENGLISH\nIt has been three years since Ilan Manouach was last here to talk about the increasing role of automation in artistic production, and in comics in particular. Now he is back – a leading researcher, debater and also an active artist and comics creator in the meeting area between art and AI production. An often controversial voice, as has been evident, for example, in Swedish researcher Robert Aman’s interviews with in Det grymma svärdet no. 44 or on The Comics Journal site [LINK: https://www.tcj.com/comics-people-generally-hate-what-i…/ ] He recently had his experimental comic Tjärornas krig (Tarwar) published in Sweden by Lystring förlag.\nNow Manouach is back in Sweden as a participant in the international conference Comics & Machines (COMMA 2026) [LINK: https://comma2026.echochamber.be/ ] at the Royal Institute of Technology and Uppsala University on April 22–23, an academic meeting that examines the rapidly changing landscape of sequential art in regard to computers and machine intelligence — and a critical re-examination of comics as active computational configurations rather than passive recipients of technological change.\nThis talk at the Serieteket/Kulturbiblioteket is a “pre-opening” to the conference where you will get to learn about Ilan Manouach’s theory building and perhaps also meet some of the other international researchers at the conference.\nThe talk will be in English.\nPresented in collaboration with Echo Chamber, the Royal Institute of Technology and Uppsala University.\n
